The North Carolina Medical Society Foundation (NCMSF) is the philanthropic arm of the North Carolina Medical Society. The mission of the North Carolina Medical Society Foundation is to improve access to quality health care for all North Carolinians. Using a multi-pronged strategy to address the problems of access, the NCMSF is dedicated to assisting rural communities and underserved, uninsured populations of North Carolina; supporting the study of voluntary community care models, long-term reforms to the healthcare system and reducing health care costs without compromising quality of care. Our portfolio of programs demonstrates our commitment to this vision.
Ensuring a Caring Physician for Every Community
Created in 1989, The Foundation’s Community Practitioner Program partners with local communities and other agencies and health care organizations to assist in recruiting talented primary care physicians, physician assistants, and family nurse practitioners by providing grants in return for service in underserved communities. By offering some relief for often tremendous educational debts, the program’s grant support encourages health professionals to serve in areas of North Carolina that need them most.
