Foundation Awarded Grant for Physician Workforce Shortages Project

The NCMS Foundation, in partnership with the The Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research (Sheps Center) at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, received a $75,000 grant from Physicians Foundation to support a program to develop an open source projection model that predicts the supply and need for physicians in the United States. The project will run from July1, 2011 to June 30, 2013 and will result in multiple outputs including a freely available web-based model and user guide. The model and findings will be disseminated through presentations at professional conferences, manuscripts, a policy brief and a final report.
