The North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants promotes and represents the physician assistant profession in North Carolina through education, quality services, and advocacy of optimal health care.
The North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants gave a multi-year grant of $100,000 to the Community Practitioner Program that spanned 2002-2006.
Since its inception in 1989, the Community Practitioner Program has assisted more than 400 primary care physicians, physician assistants and family nurse practitioners serve in 145 communities located in 83 counties that are often rural, economically distressed or medically underserved. Beyond that, 64% of CPP participants remain in their communities beyond their five-year commitment, 73% continue to practice medicine in rural or economically distressed counties and 85% remain in North Carolina. Without the generous support from The North Carolina Academy of Physician Assistants , the Community Practitioner Program would not be able to bring quality health care to those in our state that need it the most.
