Sanofi-aventis U.S., based in Bridgewater, NJ, and employing 11,400 people across the country, is part of a leading global pharmaceutical company that discovers, develops, produces and markets innovative therapies that enhance people’s lives. Sanofi-aventis generously supported the Community Practitioner Program with a $50,000 grant in 2009.
Since its inception in 1989, the Community Practitioner Program has assisted more than 400 primary care physicians, physician assistants and family nurse practitioners serve in 145 communities located in 83 counties that are often rural, economically distressed or medically underserved. Beyond that, 64% of CPP participants remain in their communities beyond their five-year commitment, 73% continue to practice medicine in rural or economically distressed counties and 85% remain in North Carolina. Without the support from Sanofi Aventis, the Community Practitioner Program would not be able to bring quality health care to those in our state that need it the most.
