Mark Gwynne, DO -- Family Practice, Siler City

Mark Gwynne, DO, began his medical career with the desire to help underserved patients in rural areas. With the help of the NCMS Foundation, Dr. Gwynne is able to carry out his commitment to patients in Siler City, a federally designated health professional shortage area.

In addition to practicing at Chatham Primary Care, Dr. Gwynne works several shifts per month at Chatham Hospital, where he sees many patients whose only access to primary care is often the emergency department. His practice is also committed to recruiting other physicians to the rural health care setting. They actively engage in medical education by rotating first, third and fourth year medical students through their office on a routine basis. "Exposing students to quality care in a disadvantaged environment, I believe, role models the values that should be passed on to the next generation of physicians," said Dr. Gwynne.

Mark Gwynne received his undergraduate degree from Swarthmore College and his DO Degree from Nova Southeastern University's College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his residency training in family medicine at UNC Chapel Hill.
