Wondering what to do with your used vehicle?

Give it a second life by donating it to the North Carolina Medical Society Foundation! Save yourself the high cost of repairs or the hassle of trying to sell or trade your vehicle and get a tax-deduction instead! Your vehicle doesn't even have to be running; it just needs to be in one piece! We can accept cars, trucks, vans, motorhomes, motorcycles, boats, and planes . . . even farm and construction equipment!

How to Donate

As a donation, your vehicle will provide much-needed support to Foundation operations and programs, such as the Leadership College, the Community Practitioner Program, and PractEssentials, all of which are aimed at improving access to quality health care for all North Carolinians. So many people in our state are without health insurance and, therefore, go without necessary medical care. We strive to improve their chances of gaining access to quality health care, but we cannot do this without your financial support.

In order to make a donation, contact our partner, V-DAC (Vehicle Donations for Any Charity). V-DAC is one of the most responsibly managed vehicle donation programs in the country, which yields some of the best results for most non-profit organizations.

How it works:

  • Before contacting V-DAC, please make sure that you have a free and clear title for your vehicle. (This is usually required; however, you may call V-DAC for assistance, if necessary.)
  • To begin the donation process, you will need to call 1-866-332-1778 or complete an online form. Further instructions will be given by a phone representative or on the website.
  • After mailing in the necessary paperwork, you will be contacted (usually within one week) to arrange a pickup time. Please call V-DAC if you need a faster pickup. Remember to remove your plates and all personal belongings.
  • Vehicles are picked up and processed at no cost to you. They are then sold by the auction service used by 14 of the 20 largest insurance companies and the top ten national charitable programs.
  • Once the vehicle has sold, you will receive a tax receipt for your donation.
  • The Foundation will receive a check for the net proceeds from your donation.

Remember that your donation may be tax deductible. More importantly, it will make a difference in the lives of North Carolinians. Thank you for helping to improve the state of health care in North Carolina!
