Dr. McLawhorn has been practicing at Premier Women’s Health Professionals since 2002 and has been a participant in the Community Practitioner Program since 2007.

I am currently chief of staff of Maria Parham hospital and serve on the Board of Directors for the hospital and have served in numerous leadership roles over the past eight years. I am currently on the Board of Directors of Henderson Collegiate - a charter school in Henderson. I am a member of the Oxford-Henderson Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority - a public service sorority and I have volunteered at the Warren County free clinic.

I grew up in Brooklyn, NY; attended Wake Forest University in Winston Salem, NC and my training was at the University of Rochester in Rochester, NY. Having come from a large metropolitan area, the community that I live and serve in now is very different from my origins but I really enjoy where I am. I have always loved small towns. My mother and father are from Windsor, NC so I was very familiar with a small North Carolina community. When I interviewed for jobs, I only looked for small communities. I love the fact that I am five minutes from my job and the hospital. There is no traffic and less hassle in a small town. Everyone knows who you are. I am less than an hour away from the city.

I am married and have three sons. My husband works in the community and my children attend the local, public school and have been involved with the local sports and recreational teams. I decided to come to a rural area because I wanted to be in a community where I could make a difference in the lives of people that I touched. I have enjoyed my patients and the community and I really love what I do and the people that I care for.
