Health Information Technology: Helping North Carolina Physicians Move Forward
The NCMS Foundation is committed to assisting North Carolina health care professionals bolster their practice infrastructure and implement the new technologies that will increase their viability in the future. To this effort, the Foundation offers assistance in several capacities.
In partnership with the NC AHEC Regional Extension Center, the Foundation is assisting primary care physicians with the implementation of electronic health records (EHR). This program provides comprehensive technical support and educational programs as well as assistance with achieving meaningful use and the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective care.
The EHR Loan Fund provides EHR loans specifically focusing on small rural/underserved and urban primary care practices. Working with stakeholders such as the NC Department of Health and Human Services Office of Health Information Technology and Self Help Credit Union, the Foundation provides financial assessment and practice management support to ensure practices are financially prepared and organized to implement an EHR.
