Leadership College

The North Carolina Medical Society Leadership College is an intensive leadership development course designed to orient and train physicians and physician assistants for potential future leadership positions at the county, state and potentially the national level.  A select group of 15-18 scholars are chosen to participate annually in the program.  The class size is intentionally small so that scholars may receive highly personalized training by faculty and mentors. Participants represent all regions of the state and varied medical specialties.

The Leadership College combines the elements of mentoring, organizational education, skills training and guided experiences which cover the three “P’s” of leadership: the philosophy of leadership; the principles of leadership and the practice of leadership.  While the program concentrates on leadership at the state level, the skills and principals learned certainly benefit all of organized medicine and the profession as a whole.
